Project Details
This EPCOR-coordinated project involved the decommissioning of the legacy 150PS6 padmount transformer and the installation of a modern 50MSB single-phase transformer at the Royal Gardens Community League hall. The upgrade included underground 15kV cable splicing, redirection of existing ducting, and installation of a new precast transformer base with guardrails. Work was executed with adherence to clearance, coordination, and site preservation standards under EPCOR and City of Edmonton specifications.
Outcomes
- Replaced aged 150PS6 transformer with new 50MSB unit on precast base
- Installed and spliced 16m of 15kV 1-1/C 1/0 AL XLPE primary cable
- Realigned and connected new 1-4” duct with existing 2” primary duct
- Protected infrastructure with new ground grid, guard posts, and marker balls
- Minimized impact on adjacent parkland through compliant trenching and coordination
